"The real mystery does not behave mysteriously or secretively; it speaks a secret language ..."
Images possess the distinctive capacity to convey intricate concepts and sentiments without recourse to the written word. By selecting specific image details, manipulating light and shadow, and composing elements within an image in a deliberate manner, an artist can create a narrative structure that evokes certain feelings and thoughts in the viewer, much like language or music. By drawing on universal symbols and archetypes, images can be created that convey deeper meaning, allowing us to understand certain visual messages on a collective level. However, the interpretation of images is highly subjective due to the individual cultural and historical background as well as the personal experiences of the viewer. This duality of both universal and individual understanding of images represents an exciting field of work. It enables us to engage in a dialogue about different interpretations and perspectives that goes far beyond the actual story of a picture.

Even as a child I was enchanted by this world of images.
At some point in my studies, I encountered the field of Alchemy, which I found particularly intriguing due to its rich symbolism as evidenced also in various fairy tales and mythologies. Similarly, the visual language and exploration of the subconscious characteristic of Surrealism continue to hold a fascination for me.
There is a profound connection between Alchemy and Surrealism in the arts. Alchemical symbols and ideas have always served as tools to explore the depths of the human spirit and to depict transformation and the mystical, not only in Surrealism. The complex symbolic representations of divine knowledge, spiritual development, voyages and the mysteries of life and death are ubiquitous. The combination of these two elements allows us to create new and transformative experiences that expand consciousness and invite the viewer on an introspective journey.
My images facilitate an immersive exploration of the intriguing realm of Alchemy. However, as a pilgrim and seeker, my curiosity extends beyond this domain, encompassing the multifaceted experiences and insights gained during my travels.
And of course it's also about storytelling.
The most important tale at the moment is that of the concrete dwellers. I originally planned to dedicate myself to this side story at a later date, but it has developed its own dynamic through my own life in the former GDR, and it resonates strongly within me. Based on my own experiences, I roam and explore this world and try to convey what life in it means.
In search of truth, beauty and wonder.
